Disney to acquire Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion:
Walt Disney Co. has agreed to acquire Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion in a surprise deal that gives the media giant control of the “Star Wars” franchise.
1986: Steve Jobs buys “The Graphics Group” from Lucasfilm for $5 million. It becomes Pixar and a pioneer of computer animated feature films.
2006: Disney buys Pixar for $7.4 billion (in stock).
2012: Disney is now buying LucasFilm for $4.05 billion.
So Lucasfilm and Pixar back together. Funny how these things come around.
